The Seventh of April University
is one of the universities scattered throughout the Great
Jamahiriya. It is a castle achieved by the revolution. The
university got this name from the great student event on the
seventh of April 1976.
It is a member of the Union of
Arab Universities, the
Association of African
Universities, and the
Association of Islamic
Universities.
This university established in
1983 as a branch of the College
of Education at the Elfatih
University with a small number
of students (about 600),
distributed in seven
departments.
Because of the rapid growth in
the number of student, the
General People's Committee's
Decision No. (35) Of 1988
established this university as
an independent university and
has a legal personality with an
independent financial
disclosure, Located in Zawia
city and follow the General
People's Committee for Higher
Education.
After that, a number of
decisions related to the
restructuring universities and
reorganization of the university
were decided.
The most important
decisions are the General
People's Committee No. (745)
in
1991, and General People's
Committee of Education No.
(1280) in 1993, and the General
People's Committee resolution No. (281)
in 1999, and General
People's Committee for Higher
Education No. (36) In 2000, and
the General People's Committee
resolution No. (118) in 2004,
and finally decree No. (2) in
2005 from the General People's
Committee, under which the
number of colleges under The
Seventh of April University 18
Faculty distributed in Shabias :
Azawia , Sabrata Elnekat Alkams,
including interdisciplinary
arts, and pre-service teachers
training and education, law ,
economy, science, veterinary and
agricultural sciences,
engineering, human medicine,
dentistry, pharmacy, technical,
medical and public health.
Now, the university constructing
a new campus taking into
consideration building modern
and integrated University City.
This city located at a distance
of six kilometers south of
Zawia, the buildings are about a
hundred square hectares and have
been taken into account in this
campus the aesthetic design of
internally and externally.
